Red Kings Poker has 7 VIP Reward levels; 4 levels are based on monthly point accumulation with 3 that are based on yearly point accumulation. Player Points then convert to Red King Crowns, which can then be used for tournament tickets, cash back or other items from the Red Kings Store; Grinderschool recommends using them for cash back which offers the highest VIP Rewards rate. The Player Point to Crown conversion rates are different for cash games and tournaments. In tournament play, players earn 5 Player Points for every $1 in tournament rake which converts to 2.6 Crowns; cash game players earn 3.25 Player Points for every $1 in rake that also convert to 2.6 Crowns.

Red Kings is part of the Ongame Network, which awards player points in cash game in accordance with the Ongame Essence Model. The Essence Model awards Player Points more generously to losing players and less generously to winning players; this seemingly unfair system keeps a lot of the regulars off the tables and makes for softer cash games. The Essence Model has no effect on tournament players.

Get dealt a pair of red pocket kings (Kd Kh) and receive a one time $300 bonus that you will receive after 2400 points or $480 in rake. This is an additional 62.50% VIP rewards that you will receive, however your VIP Club will remain frozen until you finish the bonus. On average, you will receive Kd Kh once ever 1326 hands. If you get dealt a pair of red pocket kings (Kd Kh) and lose, Red Kings Poker will grant you a one time $500 bad beat bonus that you will receive after 4000 points or $800 in rake. As with all bonuses, your VIP Club will freeze until you finish the bonus but this bonus is an additional 62.50% VIP Rewards. The Ongame Poker Network has significant 6-max NLHE and PLO traffic at all levels with very few full ring NLHE tables running at $100nl or higher; small stakes players will find several full ring games below $100nl. Very few SNGs run higher than the $33 level but the Ongame Poker Network has significant SNG traffice at the $22 level and below. While several MTT guarantees exist at the $4k level and below, only a couple daily rebuy tournaments have a guarantee of $8k to $10k.

Red Kings Poker Rake Calculation

Red Kings Poker uses the “Essence” rake system, which awards slightly more points to players who enter hands against stronger, more experienced players, and awards slightly fewer to strong players playing against weaker opponents. Like “weighted contributed” method, the amount of rake credited depends on the amount of money a player puts into a pot, but it is adjusted “slightly” depending on how experienced the opponents are. This method has come under criticism for a lack of transparency in how it’s calculated.

Because of the reward structure, the cash games at the Ongame Network are likely to have a higher proportion of fish than at any other site. The Ongame Network Essence Model significantly under-rewards winning players in exchange for over-rewarding losing players which in turns keeps many winning regulars off the site. While Red Kings has a large selection of small stakes cash games and SNGs, Grinderschool recommends that only the mid stakes cash game players and high rake earners continue to play at Red Kings after the deposit bonus is cleared.
